Dial-up tones, cassette tapes, and a strong sense of nostalgia, Midnight VFX stepped into the time machine for this one, to take audiences Back to the 90s.
For the film Back to the 90s, we had the pleasure of crafting signature time-travel effects bridging the modern and vintage world. When it came to designing the effect, a generic portal or sterile sci-fi warp wasn’t going to fit the film’s aesthetic. Midnight VFX went back to the drawing board, and back a decade further, channeling the bold old-school imperfection of classic 1980s cinema to craft an iconic transition through time.
Rebuilding a past era means obsessing over every detail that should not be there. Our team ensured seamless cleanups and period-accurate environmental enhancements to drop audiences in a time when VHS tapes lined every shelf.
Midnight VFX was proud to contribute towards this retro adventure and to step back into the heart of the 1990s.
