Bringing a holiday adventure to life takes more than just packing a bag. In Yoh! Bestie, Midnight VFX didn’t just prep the cabin for take-off, but the whole plane.

We had the task of modeling, texturing and animating a photoreal Beechcraft to intercut with the live action plates captured during principal photography. This gave us flexibility to look through the cabin windows during the flight and see the airplanes entry over Plettenberg Bay where the main character’s journey is set in motion.

What better way to liven up a romantic celebration on the beach than a few fireworks. When creating the fireworks needed for Yoh! Bestie, our goal was to create a nighttime spectacle that complemented the scene, rather than a display that distracted from the performance and dialogue. We choreographed timing and color palette finely and ensured integration with the scene environments from soft glows on the characters faces to subtle flashes on building walls, transforming a quiet night into a dazzling moment for one of the films climactic sequences.

In contrast to our more dramatic contributions, Midnight VFX completed comprehensive invisible cleanups throughout the film ensuring viewers could submerse in this fun holiday rom-com without distractions.
