Murder on the Inca Trail
Midnight VFX contributed to the gripping German crime drama, “Murder on the Inca Trail”, streaming on ARD in Germany.
This four-part crime series retraces the chilling 1997 murder of a German tourist in the Peruvian Andes and the years-long investigation that followed, spanning three continents and sparking diplomatic tension.
To capture the rugged, high-altitude peaks of Peru, while principal photography took place in Cape Town, South Africa, we recreated the iconic scale and topography of the Peruvian Andes as photorealistic 3D environment extensions.
To further push the majesty of the Inca Trail, atmospherics and dynamic lighting were used to preserve realistic scale and depth perception of the digital extensions to support the authentic look of the show.
